Las Mariposas is a small, family-run and and owner-operated, hotel with a friendly and relaxed guesthouse atmosphere. It's a very reasonably-priced B&B and a lively, comfortable meeting spot for international travelers. A great place to exchange stories and have conversations with the other guests. Big on ambiance and low on pretensions, it's a place where you'll feel right at home. A sheltered spot with a sense of community fostered by the owners, as if the hotel was designed with cultural exchange in mind. It's built like a small hacienda or a gated community, within walking distance to several good spanish schools and the zocalo, but where it's tempting to spend the day lounging in the shade of one of the lush patios. A perfect location for extended vacationers, writers, readers and students to use as a base. Be prepared for a good chit-chat during breakfast in the front patio!
